Pilate's Crossing
Very little has been written about Pontius Pilate, a man who figures prominently in world religion and whose gavel of judgment echoes through modern day.
The very mention of Pontius Pilate conjures up the image of a despicable human being -- the face of Christianity might have been far different were it not for the fatal decision made by this man on the eastern frontier of the Roman Empire.
But what happened to that man? What became of one of the greatest scapegoats in history?
Pilate's Crossing
is a novella about what his life might have been like from the time of the Christ event until his own death. Make no mistake, this is not a story about Christ but is Pilate's story told through his own eyes.
Pilate's journey carries the reader first from Jerusalem to Ephesus where he meets the brash and capable merchant, Miriam, and where his most loyal domestic is converted to Christianity. The tale then proceeds to Rome, where Pilate is met by Caligula (although it was Tiberius who recalled him) and where he must account for alleged misdeeds in Judea. Pilate's self-serving means of atonement cost him dearly.
Pilate's Crossing
is a story of betrayals, revenge, and, just possibly, acceptance, told from the perspective of one of the most notorious personalities in Western civilization.
